WELCOME TO AN OVERVIEW OF EVENTS PLANNED BY THE SOUTH HURON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR 2013
The South Huron Chamber of Commerce (SHCC) serves the Businesses and Community within the Municipality of South Huron as well as many Businesses in neighbouring communities. The SHCC hosts events and purchase products from companies that have paid up SHCC memberships and provides venues to host community businesses/events. There are many member benefits for our Chamber Members that we are in the process of reviewing for potential improvements. The SHCC is funded primarily through membership dues. We thank the companies that pay their dues promptly. We welcome new members to join the Chamber and individuals who would like to join the Board of Directors. SHCC Highlights from 2012
So where has 2012 gone and what has the SHCC accomplished? The following are some highlights.
At our 14th Annual Meeting we honoured and recognized the following individuals and companies because of the outstanding contributions they have made to our community

The Chamber hosted a number of the highly popular “Business after 5” business open houses. These events give businesses an opportunity to showcase and highlight what they do. SHCC members enjoyed the opportunity to see the new premises and expansions of JRM Electric, Huron Tractor and Coldwell Banker Realtor all in Exeter. Chamber members enjoyed a barbecue at MYFM, and were able to learn about all of the services offered through the Centre of Employment and Learning Centre. The Four County Labour Market Planning Board also hosted an event. The SHCC is very proud of the successful businesses that call South Huron home.
Another successful initiative of the SHCC is the annual Souper Douper Thursday that has been held at the Exeter Farmers Market every year since the market began. The SHCC served up the following soups which were donated by the following market vendors and local restaurants.:Hayter’s Turkey Farm: Turkey Noodle Soup
Bayfield Berry Farm: Tomato Vegetable Soup & Biscuits
Full of Beans: Beef and Bean Soup
Barrkinghill Farm: Cream of Chicken Soup
Eddingtons Restaurant: Butternut Squash Soup
Garlic Box: Smokey Garlic White Bean Soup
Chars Burgers Restaurant: Corn Chowder.Sheldon Berry Farms: all of the squash for the soup supplied by Eddington’s Restaurant.The SHCC wishes to thank all these donors as well as everyone that came out and supported this event. Over $600 was raised for the Huron County Food Distribution Centre. We ended the year at our Annual Christmas Party, hosted by Char Gourmet Burger Co, 367 Main St. S, Exeter, about 50 people gathered to celebrate the season and to bring donations of unwrapped gifts for the Huron County Christmas Bureau. Good Food, Good Fellowship, Good Fun and the kids benefitted.

South Huron and area Home Show: South Huron Recreation Centre, 94 Victoria St, Exeter
In partnership with MYFM radio the SHCC will host the new and improved South Huron and Area Home Show at the South Huron Recreation Centre. Through the connections of My FM this event will well publized covering Strathroy, Goderich, Grand Bend, Exeter, Kincardine, Port Elgin and all areas in between. 5th Annual Souper Douper Thursday, Exeter Farmers’ Market, Baldwin and Main St, North of Trivitt Anglican Church
Yes the SHCC directors will be serving soup. We had several people who came to buy soup, volunteer to make soup for our 2013 event. There has been discussion for some changes to add even more fun and draw more people to the event so we can raise more funds for the Huron County Food Distribution Centre .· December 2013 SHCC Annual Christmas Gathering Date and location to be determined.
